Buttercream Frosting

Ingredients

  • 3 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons whipping cream
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Beat the softened butter in a stand mixer or a hand held mixer for five minutes until the butter is a very light shade of yellow and looks very fluffy.
  2. Slowly add in the icing sugar with the mixer on low.
  3. Once it is all combined, add in the cream, salt, and vanilla and beat until combined. If you want to add a color, add food coloring of your choice and mix until combined.
  4. Beat the frosting on high for 5 minutes. If the frosting is too thick, you can add more cream. If it is too runny you can add more confectioner's sugar.
